Do you have a stash of trinkets and small treasures that are more sentimental value than actual value? You’ll never get rid of them, but you don’t use them, wear them, or display them? Mom’s baby spoon, great grandma’s broken watch, the button from granddad’s military uniform? How about the ID tag from the world’s best and never forgotten dog? Did you save your daughters friendship pins that she wore on her tennis shoes all through middle school? What about the corsage from your son’s wedding, or the lucky penny you found the day you landed your dream job? Do you have a ticket stub to the best play with the best date, or your first guitar pic? The list is endless! In this class, Instructor, Debbie Stertz will teach you to create a unique and vintage “ticket” with each item – because that’s exactly what it is. It’s your 1-way ticket to memory lane.
In class, students will learn to layer papers, ribbons, and other embellishments to create heirloom treasures. Using grandma's watch as an example, I might start with a piece of 20s pinup scrap paper, because she was a knock-out and before attaching the watch, I'd add a layer of lace because she had lace doilies on every piece of furniture. I no longer have a broken watch in the back of my drawer, I have a ticket to visit my Grandmother. I can frame my ticket. I can hang it in a shadow box, or on a garland with several other tickets. I can add pretty hooks and add to my holiday ornament collection, or I can attach them to presents and gift the memory to a loved one.
Upon check-in, students are provided aprons and storage for personal items before visiting the handwashing station. Refreshments will be self-served prior to settling into a thoroughly cleaned and sanitized workspace. Instructor will take the class step-by-step through the process of creating a series of heirloom treasures. Each student will create several tags - number limited primarily by class time.
