Students will learn how to follow a recipe and how to read and measure ingredients, including, for example, the difference between 1 tbsp and 1 tsp and when to use a standard measuring cup vs. a liquid measuring cup. Students will also practice mixing, and layering ingredients. Most important, students will feel pride gifting a special treat to someone they love, knowing they made it!

Upon check-in, students are provided aprons and storage for personal items before visiting the handwashing station. Refreshments will be self-served prior to settling into a thoroughly cleaned and sanitized workspace. Class will begin with a brief presentation; providing overview, background information, project relevance, and sample uses. Tools and materials will be distributed before instructor takes the class step-by-step through the process of creating 3 Mason Jar Gifts; Christmas M&M, and Chocolate Peppermint Bark, and White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies in a Jar. Students will select and cut fabric and ribbon to decorate their jars, along with pre-printed labels and recipe tags. Lastly, we will provide gift bag, gift tag, and tissue paper for students to wrap each of their presents.
