The five French mother sauces are: Béchamel, Velouté, Espagnole, Hollandaise, and Tomato. With a few simple ingredients (mostly flour, butter, and a liquid) and a couple easy techniques, these five sauces serve as the starting point for a slew of other classics. In between each sauce creation, we will take breaks to enjoy a 5-course tasting menu that highlight each of the 5 sauces with a bonus 6th sauce – chocolate ganache!

An optional, complimentary glass of French wine will be provided to attendees 21+ years during our final course. Students 21+ years are welcome to bring their own wine, champagne, beer, etc. to enjoy during class. Please see our BYOB policy for more details.
In this class, students will create and taste each of the five mother sauces at their tables of four.
Upon check-in, students are provided aprons and storage for personal items before visiting the handwashing station. Students will be seated in a thoroughly cleaned and sanitized workspace and given seating request preference, when available. Tools and materials will be distributed before instructor takes the class step-by-step through the successful recipe execution.
